The
Team
Named after the Congress Avenue Bats, the Austin Ice Bats
have been a popular team since their beginning in 1996.
Every year, the Travis County Expo Center mysteriously
turns into the Bat Cave, home of this minor league hockey
team.
At the Game or Not
If you can't make the game, you can always turn your radio
dial to KJCE 1370-AM to listen. If you go to the game,
depending on where you sit, you might want to bring
binoculars. Don't bring noisemakers or laser pointers. |

You
Can Bet on It
When the lights of Las Vegas glow in your mind but are
just too far away to see, bring your wallet and your best
bets to Retama for live thoroughbred horse racing. Open
daily for televised simulcast racing from other tracks
across the country, the park accomodates wagering on races
throughout the day.
Nighttime Is the Right Time
Of course, the best time to visit is on live race nights,
when you can hang out on the ground level and watch the
horses stampede across the finish line right before your
eyes. The multi-level grandstand accommodates 20,000
visitors and includes food courts, the Terrace Dining Room
restaurant and a sports bar. |
